Meera Modi

It was a dark and stormy night in the summer of 2006 when the Meera Modi made the final step to join the Young Laboratory (mu-hahaha). Currently, I am working to develop social bonding in the prairie vole as a predictive model for the development of drugs directed at enhancing social cognition in individuals with autism. Through in vivo studies, I am looking at the effects of positive glutamate receptor modulators on the propensity to form pair bonds and the interactive effects of these drugs with oxytocin receptor agonists. Complementarily, I am also looking at the proteomic changes associated with oxytocin receptor activation and pair bond formation. I am currently supported by a pre-doctoral training fellowship from Autism Speaks.
