I am interested in understanding the relationship between patterns of activity in local brain circuits and cognition. In particular, I am studying how spiking and field potential oscillations in the medial temporal lobe relate to quantitative evaluations of memory. I hope to combine stimulation with recording to directly alter the local spiking and field -this should help us understand the causal relationship between specific circuits and memory.

Since beginning in Dr. Buffalo’s lab in August 2006, I have been fortunate enough to work on several projects. In addition to daily behavioral training, I have been involved in design, implementation and analysis of the face processing and recognition study, executive function and working memory study, and I am currently working on a contextual learning task and evaluation of cognitive deficits arising early in Parkinson’s Disease. But my favorite part of the day is still afternoon cake from the Yerketeria! |

I recently completed my BS in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University and will begin medical school in the fall. Continuing work begun last year as my honors thesis, I am studying cognitive impairments that arise in the earliest stages of Parkinson’s Disease. This study is translational, and thus is being pursued in both recently-diagnosed patients in the clinic as well as monkey models of Parkinson's disease. Since joining the lab, my newly developed hobbies include making monkey chow, hiding my lunch, and scraping chow boogers. |

I'm an international student from Thailand and have spent the last 3 years here at Emory enjoying Georgia's temperamental weather. I'm a Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology major and am hoping to attend graduate school in neuroscience. I've been swimming since I was in the 2nd grade and am on Emory's Varsity Swim team, so if I'm not working or sleeping, I’m probably swimming. I just started working in Dr. Buffalo's lab in February 2009. |
